Sammy & Kira – the mascots of MallorcaPets

Sammy is the real MallorcaPets cat from Sant Llorenç. He was once found near Mount San Salvador and now lives safely and happily with MallorcaPets. Kira is his cheerful companion: a lovingly created mascot dog who speaks for the many dogs and animals on Mallorca. Together, Sammy and Kira explain why MallorcaPets exists, how you can help animals on Mallorca and why one right step can sometimes make a big difference.

Introduction — Why MallorcaPets?

Sammy and Kira introduce themselves in front of a Mallorca scenery as the mascots of MallorcaPets.

I am Sammy – once a street cat near Sant Llorenç by Mount San Salvador.

I was lucky: someone found me.

But not every animal here is that lucky.

That is why MallorcaPets exists – so help is easier to find.

Sammy is real. Kira is a lovingly created character. That combination matters: Sammy brings a real story, while Kira makes difficult topics easier to understand. Together they show that helping animals on Mallorca does not have to be complicated – but it does need attention, heart and responsibility.

What can you find on MallorcaPets?

MallorcaPets is designed to give orientation when someone quickly needs a reliable place to turn to. This is especially important for visitors, new residents and anyone who suddenly does not know where to go with an injured or vulnerable animal.

What to do if you find an animal?

Stay calm: injured, exhausted or in danger?

If safe: move it out of the sun and offer water.

A phone call can be important – but often a phone call alone is not enough. If you find an animal, simple steps can already help: keep it safe, calm it down, provide shade, offer water and look for the right help. Always only when it is safe for both people and animals.

Animal emergency — act quickly

Sammy and Kira show that an animal emergency on Mallorca may need quick help from a vet.

In an emergency, every minute counts.

A quick call alone is often not enough.

If you can: straight to a vet.

MallorcaPets shows the quickest route.

Fast action is especially important for injured, very young, very weak or obviously sick animals. MallorcaPets does not replace veterinary care, but it helps people find suitable contacts and places more quickly.

Language barrier at the vet

Sammy and Kira show in front of a vet clinic that language barriers can be solved with English or a translation app.

Do not worry: you do not need perfect Spanish.

Many vets speak English.

And if not, a translation app helps.

Everyone understands meow. Mostly.

Many people hesitate because they are afraid of doing something wrong or not being able to communicate. This is where MallorcaPets wants to encourage action: helping does not start with perfect words, but with the decision not to look away.

How can you help?

Sammy and Kira show different ways to support animal welfare and animal help on Mallorca.

You do not need to find an animal to help: money, food, supplies.

Your time helps too.

Even from abroad: share posts and support groups.

I look cute – you help!

Animal welfare is not only about big rescue missions. Small actions can help too: a ride to the vet, sharing a post, donating food, offering foster care, making a contact or supporting a group regularly. MallorcaPets wants to make these opportunities more visible.

Responsible handling of sensitive places

Some places need special protection. This can include sensitive feeding spots or cat colonies. Such information should not be shared publicly without care, because it can put animals at risk. MallorcaPets therefore focuses on responsible help: making visible what can safely help – and protecting what needs protection.

Help make Mallorca more animal-friendly

Whether you live on Mallorca, are visiting the island or want to help from abroad: every useful piece of information, every act of support and every responsible action can make a difference for an animal. Sammy and Kira show the way – but we all have to take part.
